The primary purpose of the Board of Directors for a non-profit organization is to guide the direction of the organization. This includes planning the strategy and deciding on the direction of the organization and its work.
Specific duties include:
- Leading in the development of the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic plan
- Providing proper financial oversight for the organization
- Ensuring and optimizing the use of adequate resources
- Ensuring legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability
- Ensuring effective organizational planning
- Recruiting and orienting new board members
- Assessing the performance of the Executive Director and the organization
- Determining, monitoring and strengthening the organization’s programs and services
Commitment
- To attend 6 - 8 meetings per calendar year, in person or by video conference.
- Participate in committees and/or individual work, as necessary, to advance the organization
- To serve as an ambassador for The HopeWorks Connection via social media and elsewhere in your sphere of influence.
- Attend orientation, applicable training and support sessions.
- To serve for a two-year term
